Connecticut is where hate breeds…

Late last year, I discovered the band ‘Hatebreed’ whilst lazing around on a sofa in some hotel close to the airport in Muscat, Oman of all places. And my-oh-my, how the stomach churned when I learnt they are from Connecticut, specifically Bridgeport. I went through their home town on the train twice back in the 90s, as one of the newer readers of this site may remember…

I don’t recall the exact words chosen but do remember her informed description of Bridgeport was hardly recommendatory, even though to me it looked ok from what little I saw of it… well the bit with the river did anyway…it was a nice blue colour on that sunny, autumnal afternoon…yes, so something about it being the worst place in Connecticut is all I can really recall…

Intentionally so or otherwise, the following video doesn’t exactly show CT as the picturesque state which the whole of New England is commonly perceived as, and as I still remember it being. It’s hardly a fitting backdrop to where hate breeds…

Their cover of Slayer’s ‘Ghosts of War’ must be commended.

On a personal level, what would be a more fitting title for a band from Connecticut? If it was a metal band, and I had to base the name on experience only, what would I call that band given that the fitting title of ‘Paradise Lost’ was taken long ago?

‘ _ _  _ _ _ _ (6 letters)’. Is what I would choose, and if you sift through every single crossword appearing in the NY Times in the mid 90s, you’ll eventually find the answer…

The song someone, one December day long, long ago, actually quite liked from the rock/metal genres is below. A pleasant memory…
